NEW MEMBER INTRODUCTION FORUM / Re: Hello from California

Welcome from Kentucky!  I have fond memories of California as a kid in the mid to late 80s.  I lived in El Cajon from 3rd grade to 8th grade.  Politics wasn't on my radar, I was too busy trying to figure out girls and wishing I was in Motley Crue.  :headbang:

This is the best place to learn about the SKS.  You can find out all you need to know and then some!

And I don't think I'll be leaving California any time soon. Me and my wife both own businesses here, family is here and the kid is still in school. I love this beautiful state but hate the politics here.

Thanks fellas. I'll post some pics after work later today. It appears all the #'s match except the dust cover. The stock is original and not in too bad of shape.

Welcome aboard from The Magic City!

I hope you don't mind, but we're probably going to start a pool on how long it takes you to leave that cesspool of a state.

Just kidding of course, we actually have several members from California.  I visited there once, it's a beautiful place. It's no wonder it's called The Golden State. Still, with all the shenanigans going on I sometimes wonder how anyone manages to survive out there.  You sir must have some type of resilience.

Curious, Is yours all parts matching?  Does it have the original stock or an aftermarket stock?  If you post a pic or two, I'm sure several of the guys here can tell you more about it.  Look around, there's plenty of great info here to be had and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Hello people. Thanks for letting me join. My names Tim and I'm from Sacramento CA. Always been an SKS fan. I used to drool over a buddy's SKS back in high school. Finally 30 years later I got one. Joined this group to learn about it. It's a Tula, not sure what year. Looking forward to reading and learning about it.

Tomorrow, another attempt will be made at the shooting range. The two SKS rifles, one an underfolder with a Yugo action and the other Yugo-Russian will be tested.
The new project " Colapsible, sliding, retractable stock" has began.

Today, the Yugo-Russian SKS received more modifications. The FSB was pinned, and the barrel was threaded with M14x1 LH. The rifle now has two options: a bayonet or a muzzle brake.

I replaced the defective Yugo barrel with a good Russian one. The project involving the Yugo receiver and the Russian barrel setup is complete.
