SKS trigger assembly
« on: April 20, 2012, 10:26:46 PM »
New here, first post.

I have 2 Chinese made SKS and I want to send the trigger assemblies to Murry to have the trigger upgrades.

I have been reading here and I guess these are more valuable now than when I bought them. $59.00 for the first one and $39
.00 for the second one and all the numbers match on both rifles. I enjoy shooting them more than my AR-15.

I am looking for a short scope to add to these rifles that will let the fired cases clear the objective, but I would like side focus and as much power as can be had for this combo.

Any commits will be appreciated

Thank You
Mike

First welcome.

I can't help you on your slide focus scope.  I have mounted scopes on my SKS's.  The key is going to be they Mount.  Those top cover mounts just don't work well.  That leaves you with a drill and tap option, or Murry's idea of threading the take down lever hold.  I haven't done that yet, so I will leave that to others.

IMO scopes main purpose is to put the eye/sight/target on a single focal plane. a 2x and 22x will both do that.  I grew up hunting in the thick woods of La.  There unless you were on a "pipe" line, shots were under 50 yards.  At 4x I've thrown up my rifle and seen only hair a lot.  So I gravitated to lower power scopes.  Most of mine are 1.5 to 5 or 6, or 2x7.

But hey, your gun your money do what you want.  I just don't see having a mega powerful scope for a cartridge designed for 300 meters.

Welcome.  Yes they have gone up in value about 5X what you paid for them.  Each is worth at least $250 if you do not change them out fo factory original.  I would not drill, tap, or otherwise modify an all matching factory original rifle.  Doing so will decrease the value.  Lost of them out there that have already been messed up if you want to do that.
