You'd think they would be able to narrow it down a little better than this.  :roll:

Sunspots/SolarFlares happen all of the time and the biggest fallout is satellite and other HF communication. That was supposed to be a big one but it wasn't. There was a big one in the 1880's that took out telegraph lines. If that happened today it would be like a EMP burst that covered half the world.

For people that have satellite TV the solar conjunction time is coming up. You will have a 3 to 5 minute loss of satellite signal about the same time every day for about 4 to 5 days.

There was one back in the early 90's that took out pagers and some other stuff for a couple days.
