Post Apocalyptic Fiction
« on: June 23, 2017, 09:58:14 PM »
I've started making a series of videos. Please feel free to check them out!

The first in a series of post apocalyptic  audio short stories, set in a the dystopian future of an occupied America. The stories are told on a radio station, Radio Free America, broadcasted from the remaining american states located between the Rocky Mountains and the Mississippi River. Tune in to hear the stories from different characters and their unique perspectives of the occupation. Thru their words, immerse yourself into the world of this future society and all of the troubles it brings.

For anyone that does enjoy reading fiction SHTF type of books check out Black Autumn, its a great one that just came out a few weeks back written by the guy's that run Ready Man who were all SF guy's including Matt Best from Black Rifle Coffee.

If you buy this there is a companion book you can down load via PDF that goes more in depth with some of the back ground characters. This book is really good because the scenario in it is very plausible and it shows the mindset of different people and age groups around the country.

Another really good series that I just finished is the Survivalist series written by A. American it's a series of 10 short books and while it's not perfect it has a good story line, some very valid prepping information with a lot of food for thought as well as excellent character development.

Here's book one.

BTW there is a third installment to the book called "The Final Day". The John Matherson character is always welcome.

Someone on this board posted an ongoing story called Sorry, You're on Your Own.

It was based on what he called "the crunch" (I think).  It was set in a rural area that had been pretty much abandoned to its own after an increasing governmental crisis that culminated in utilities going down.  The main characters were left to fend for themselves as they had very little idea what was going on in the outside world and several parties had begun to look after themselves at the expense of others.  Basically it was like the TV show Jericho but without the nuclear blasts.

He continued to adapt the story as he went on based on feedback from the board and the story seemed to expand organically, but I don't remember if he ever finished it.  It was pretty good though.

Thank you for the kind words CVAsq03!  I wrote "Sorry, you're on your own" many years ago. I did write an ending although I never did try to get it published.

Yes, thanks for chiming in.  You know you could just try to post it up as a blog of some type.  It was an enjoyable read so I'm sure it would get some traffic.

Is it still up on this board somewhere though?  I know we've suffered a few catastrophic resets so I don't know if it's still here somewhere.

Edit:  never mind, I see it got bumped so it's now easy to find.   Seriously you should all check it out.

A fun series of books is the "Black Tide" series (6-7 books) by John Ringo.  Many of these books are available on pdf download sites (FREE) like 'pdfroom .com' and others.  He also has several 'Military SF/Alien Invasion' series of books.  Quite prolific Nam-vet.
