Long time lurker.....rare poster here....howdy.
Motorcycles have been taking up all my time over the last few years, but now, work has gotten in the way and I've sold the scooter and fallen back in love with my Yugo. Up until last weekend, all I did was pull it outta the safe and hold it for a minute and put it back. I bought it in "unissued/unfired" condition a few years ago and last weekend took it out for the first time. I've got other guns to shoot and I mistakenly thought the thing to do was to keep it pristine. First shot...dead nutz on. The rifle's a shooter and I intend on deer hunting with it this season.....cuz taking a deer with a Fudd-gun I've done. I've also taken a deer with a fighting gun(AR)............and venison just tastes better when shot with a battle rifle.
I'm checking to see if any Oregon folks want to kick the idea around of a weekend campout and CASUAL shoot. I've got nothing to prove behind a trigger, but if someone wanted to put a few "FUN stages" together, that'd be fine. I'm not an Operator...and likely neither are you. I've seen an annual, low-key, fun get-together get turned into an attempt at "Whittington Part Deux".....with the carefree'ness sucked outta it. This wouldn't be my shoot, or....your shoot. It'd be OUR shoot.
So....I'm throwing this out there. A weekend camping, campfire BS talk, food, cigars/pipes...whatever, booze responsibly consumed, and everyone responsible for each other's safety. IOW on that last part.....if you're "sketchy" handling a weapon, expect to be politely "instructed". If you can't/won't fix yourself, expect to be asked to leave. Other'n that, the whole idea is relaxation and fun getting to meet other Sks owners.
Most people likely have their summers planned but the fall before hunting seasons kick in might be when this could happen. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, lemme know and we can see if we can get it outta the "idea" phase.
