The best for you

OK----Its time to bug out or hunker down.  What is the first Rifle and handgun you pick up?
Mine is the SKS "M" and the glock 23
Mak 90 and glock 17 a close second.

We think a lot alike!

SKS is first, Glock 23 always on me, and a S&W Model 29 close by!

My set up of choice for bad juju, is a Paratrooper (go figure) & Beretta FS92. I've made several SHTF GI web harnesses with 4 Russian/Chinese/Yugo pouches & drop holsters. Then there's a tactical vest with AR pouches, for who ever uses that rig, the AR. Currently I'm cannibalizing a commercial tool belt/harness for repurposing. But when on an extended trip, I take along a Rossi 92 lever carbine & Rossi 4" wheel gun, both in .357 mag.

I don't intend to bug out as we live/work in ag dirt, and in the worst case, we'll get at least one harvest of nuts. On my own, I can field a decent rifle unit, with bolt guns in support of semi MBRs, and enough crew & SKSs for 12, 3 man teams, with 4-20MM cans full of X39 bandoleers  8). I've been hoarding for a decade.

My place is the designated rally point. PAX

Tough question. Likely, the AR15 style 22mag (small game), Swedish Mauser bolt (distance sniping), M1A and Beretta PX4 Storm, 9mm. And for backup, Russian SKS and Ruger 10/22 take down. Somehow, I don't see anything less. Darn, forgot the Browning A5, 12ga, 3" mag.

My choice is my AR15 in 5.56 with a 1-6 scope on it and my G17.

Not a fan of handguns even though I can outshoot everyone I know with one.  I would grab any of my sks and probably my 870 with the extended mag tube.  I want knock down power where 1 shot opens up a world of hurt on the person on the receiving end.  During Katrina my brother guarded his property with his sks and the wife was inside with one of his two dozen shotguns.  He collects Browning humpback shotguns.

I would likely go with an AR 1st, for nothing more than they are suppressed and that gives some advantage in some situations. But I have SKSs  AK, FAL and shotguns set up different ways to grab for what ever the situation is calling for.

T56 Letter Gun, w/ bandoleer of 8m3 on stripper clips
S&W Shield 9

The AR 15 is potentially the future go-to rifle, but as of yet I don't have enough mags and ammo for it to be a consideration.

I really need a full size sidearm..

My AK and Browning Hi-Power - they're the guns I shoot the most and have the most ammo, mags, and a chest rig and (for the BHP) a decent range of holsters for.

I honestly don't know.

Between an 870 pump, any sks, or a scout length m14 type, I'd feel a lot better holding onto any of them.  I suppose which would be optimal would depend where I am, where the target is, and what, if anything, is between them and me.

As a side arm, glock 19 or 17.

The AK since it’s not 50 years old (love my SKS but it is 50 and heavy), ammo bag is ready and full of thirty rounders. The Shield and 1911 tac-ops are gtg.

More than likely a hunker down situation.

Time to bug out or hunker down?
What, while you are watching Netflix on your couch?
What percentage of time do you spend at home compared to away?
I'm retired, don't travel much anymore.

You're on a vacation trip, going to see Mickey Mouse, or the 2nd largest ball of twine in the world, away from home, on a business trip, pulling an extended shift, and the need to bug out or hunker down and SHTF hits.

Curfew, roads closed, no one in or out.  Gas leak shuts off all access.  Fire, sink hole, big pile up on the highway and you are snowed in. Mass shooting.
Authorities shut down your main road to your mountain cabin.
What you got?
What do the wife and kids have at home? Or did you just lock them in the safe room?
How often are you apart from your family?  Do you have a job that might take you away just before it really got bad? A mall cop, and have to report for duty?

Me, I plan on being home when SHTF.

When I'm just going to make groceries the truck gun is with me :)
Going to a motel (like in Immokalee :) ) or someplace away from home the little case doesn't attract a lot of attention. Neither does the wife's.
Not like an AK slung over your shoulder.
Missing paddle and 2 mags are already in the truck.
The 1911 is currently Mouse, Mouse, 1911 next to the computer.
If I had a minute or two to prepare we might toss the wife's 9 shot 12ga and a case of 00 in the truck.
The only other thing that isn't in the safe is the 20 lb single shot 22 Nosler.
Safe combinations can be hell when you are stressed :)
