Florida Shoot
« on: February 07, 2020, 08:24:12 AM »

Guys, here is the situation; the range facility has raised their rental rate approximately 900 %.  As a result, there is no way we can reasonably afford to run the event without astronomically raising the registration fee  to the point that it's cost-prohibitive for pretty much everyone; We always lost money on this event to begin with (which is fine, I don't mind footing a chunk of the bill) but the numbers here are such that it will, at least for now, no longer be viable for us to use that location.

So, at least of the time being, no Shoot.

If anyone can locate a suitable location for us to use -campsite, range, facilities- please let me know so that we can plan for an event.

Thank you for all of your patience over the years, and for all of your support; We will work this out, and the Shoot will return......

Wow, 900%.  That sucks.  It just inspires me to make it big soon so I can buy a nice chunk of land where we can all get together (hey a guy can dream, can't he?).

Thanks for always putting all this together.  It's been great getting to know everyone and hang out.  I'm sure we'll come up with a way to all get together soon even if it's not as elaborate as what we'd been doing.  Then again, it didn't start off all that elaborate and it grew, so who knows what will happen in the future.

So what is the price to just go out there and an individual for the day? I would not mind driving out there and shooting for a few hours and if several of the other shooters show up it could be a nice afternoon. We could meet in the evening at the Log Cabin or some other location out there. I know many of you are fairly local. I am two hours away and was thinking of coming out there one of those weekends anyway. How about we set up at date? I think it is a lot better place to meet than Markham park......I know it would be hardly worth it for some of you out of staters but if you have something else to see or some one else to visit, you could combine the trip

I guess that means NO..oh well, I am going to try and talk Fatima into heading out that way some weekend in March to buy some chickens are our favorite farm on SR80 and get in a couple hours of shooting at the range. If I can make it all come true, I will post in here to let you know when we will be there. It will be nice to shoot outside for a change instead of the crowded Broward Indoor ranges that make you feel like you are in a fish tank with 100 people staring at you through a glass window and an RO walking around yapping at every little thing to make himself look important

Someplace close to Pensacola in the panhandle would be about half way :)

Looking more and more like I need to buy an acre+ in the dunes.
20 feet wide, a little shack, and duneberms.

So this is not a bad idea, but the range is only open to 3pm on Saturday so you would need to be out their early. This may be a thing we can do.

3pm is late enough for me. I have a couple new builds I want to test out at a more comfortable out door range. Fatima always likes driving out in the country.  I will see about a day off at work so maybe we can get there the day before for an earlier start on Saturday.

Sounds like a plan to me. Haven't really been  shooting too much at all. We  all must have been blamed for the septic issues.
What me worry? We will all be dead in 12 years "AOC"

Make this into a Good Thing.

I probably won't make the trip but if it gets my friends off the couch and into the wild :)
That's a good thing.

We'll figure something out.  This has been too good a thing, and too good a group to just let it go by the wayside.   It might be a while though, but American ingenuity always wins the day.
