SKSMagAdapter
« on: June 16, 2020, 07:29:42 PM »
Thinking about adding "SKSMagAdapter" to my rifle and currently life in Cali.

Would love to hear anyone's opinion on how well it functions (reliability if my main concern) as well as how it works with Cali law given SKS w/ detachable magazines are listed as banned (though I think they are referring directly to the SKS D/M).

I think living in California you're pretty much hosed.  Have you checked if they'll even ship to that state?

Yup, I'm pretty sure your only alternative is to move to Arazona.

Lol, moving in the near future.

Ironically, CA law seems to list ANY SKS with detachable magazines... Which makes me wonder if Tapco detachable magazines are illegal here as well?

I believe they are.  CA law seems to object to the ability to remove a magazine and insert another one without dismantling the gun.  They don't care if it's a factory feature or an upgrade.

I once thought about using WASR-10 detachable single stack mags in place of AK mags in a detachable magazine SKS conversion.  I figured the single stack 10 round limited mags would make a difference.  BATF said "no", in their eyes detachable is detachable -- I imagine it's the same in CA.

A bit mind blowing really given CA DOJ is 100% ok with a Mini 14/30...etc (insert mag feed semi auto here) as long as it doesn't have ASW features.

It functions perfectly. When was the ban put in place that ZERO detachable mags were allowed? I though it was OK, but pined at 10 rounds?

The "SKS w/ detachable magazine" is specifically mentioned in California law . . . probably because the "detachable magazine" is assumed to be an AK magazine.  I agree that it would have made more sense for them to have said something like ""SKS w/ high capacity magazine", etc.

I'm not sure when, but I think maybe the early 90's.  Here's a link to CA AG's info, check out page 29:  https://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/firearms/forms/awguide.pdf.

I did not know that. I don't sell mags into Kalifornication and "other" States with mag restrictions. But I don't see how selling my adapters is illegal.

I don't see that you selling the adapter is unlawful in California, it's the user installing it on the rifle and having it in that configuration that makes it illegal for THEM to have....
