Temporary import of 922(r) compliant sks?
« on: July 21, 2020, 11:49:25 AM »
I filed a ATF form 6NIA for my Chinese SKS. It came back stating temporary import of Chinese rifles is prohibited. Does anyone know if temporary import of 922(r) compliant sks is permitted?

Import of SKS rifles from China were banned about 20+ years ago.  I don't think it matters if it's temporary or not.

I guess I was wondering if 922(r) compliance makes it "a gun assembled from American parts" rather than a Chinese SKS.
Maybe it is instead "a Chinese sks assembled from american parts".

Also, are Canadian made parts acceptable for 922(r) compliance, or only "made in USA" parts.

I'm not sure what would happen if you assembled a firearm in China with 10-or-less foreign parts . . .  my guess would be be it's would still be considered a Chinese SKS for import purposes.

US parts only.  Canadian parts are not acceptable for compliance purposes.
