Paratroopers with bayos
« on: December 18, 2021, 12:08:31 PM »
Ho SKS Junkies,

I've heard that the bayonet installation issue comes from the Chinese SKS Paratrooper, because they were not military surplus but new production, the ATF required that they be imported without a bayonet. They also made a regulation that you could not add one.

There were Paratroopers sold with bayos before the regulation was enacted, and once in place, was it retroactive for rifles already sold, or were those guns grandfathered in to be OK with bayos? I know at one time the importer catalogs offered an option of either blade or spile bayos on Paras. Then they quit attaching bayos and some manufactures filled in the slot and neutered the Paratrooper hinge point to comply. Thanks, PAX

I purchased my Para new old stock meaning it was still sealed in the original import box and contained all the unopened extras including the spike bayonet.

I know your in CA so there are extra rules and nonsense but as far as the feds go, I bet they don’t even know.

I personally (for me) file this under The Who knows and who cares list.

Ditto. It's kinda like 922r. Just curious about the technical aspect. PAX

For what it's worth, the Para I bought from an in law had a spike bayo in a combat exchange folding stock with a duck bill mag. I stuck it in a traditional stock and put a OEM box mag on it, but have been considering the DM bolt mod and some Archangel duck bills.

I reckon. I'm ok since I bought it that way.

I haven't been in Kali since '89.  I miss it sometimes.  I could never afford to live there again, but would like to take the wife and kids on a cross country road trip and drive up the west coast.  They area I lived in as a kid was a nice neighborhood, but I ran into a guy from Cajon Valley and he said it was tweeker town now.   :(

I got my license in '68, in '69 it still would have been free. Many of the freeways in NorKal were new and fast. Everybody drove fast. It wasn't unusual to see a Ford Country Squire wagon, full of kids jumping about on vacation, fly by doing over a hunnerd. Cash & Carry reigned supreme. Durin the week we'd go to one of the many Regional Parks, then go to a gig at the Filmore Friday, surfing Saturday, watch the Raiders kick anybody's butt on Sunday. Was pretty cool  :-s  8) The house I grew up in sold for $13,500 in '59. Last year it went for $1.5 million  It took 8 hours to get to Yosemite, now it's 2.5 PAX

If it has the bayonet lug AND you can get a para length bayonet, slap it on there.

All my Paras with lugs have bayos, 2 blade, 3 spike, 4 neutered. PAX
