Norinco SKS Sporter

OK...I'm a newbie here.  I wanna purchase a Norinco SKS Sporter that takes the AK mags and has the straight stock NOT the thumbhole version.

Can anyone point me in the right direction, it will be much appreciated.

Look for an SKS-M on Gun Broker, that is going to be your best bet unless you come across one on forums where you have access to the marketplace, or other online traders.

These were sold under a number of different names.  These will usually have either ?SKS Sporter?, ?SKS M?, ?SKS NR?, or ?MC 5D? stamped on the side of the receiver.

Thanks for all the info. Is there any real difference in the models that take the AK mags?

MC-5D is made from a regular SKS and uses a modified regular trigger group. Larger capacity mags can have issues staying in place. NR, Sporter, and M's use a short gas system and are made new (not from regular SKSs), and use the AK style mag latch. The D and SKS-30 have a more military look and are 20" barrels along with the AK mag latch. The variance in designation is largely due to time of manufacture/import as well as who the importer was.

To add, there are minor differences in how the FSB was neutered along with the variances in the stock type/design.
