Tapco sent me one of their magazines with a shipment and i was looking through their compliance part page and it showed a us made 5 rnd. mag for the sks, i looked at the 30 and 20 rnd ones next to both of them it said "not shipped to CA, NJ ect." but it said nothing of the sort next to the 5 rnd. does this mean u can pull of the 10 or less in california now? if so cheers to tapco

You can play the 10 or less game but you cannot create a centerfire rifle with a detachable magazine and any of the "evil features" listed in CA law.

IIRC, isn't "SKS with detachable magaze" specifically banned by CA law?

Wouldnt a good alternative to the detachable be the 20 round fixed magazine?

Yep.  You gotta make the magazine non-detachable.

20 round fixed mags are "high capacity".  Ten rounds max.
