10 or less... See any problems?
« on: January 26, 2006, 10:42:50 PM »
I have a yugo 59/66 and am wanting to comply with the 10 or less law. In the victorinc article it has listed 17 foreign parts on the typical SKS. I figure mine has 18 since its a Yugo with the granade launcher. Is this correct? I have in mind making the following mods:

t6 stock, USA handguard, USA gistol grip, USA operator rod, USA gas piston, USA muzzle brake, USA magazine, reciver scope mount & scope.

So... 18 - 1 (stock), -1 (USA handguard), -1 (USA operator rod), -1 (USA gas piston), -1 (USA muzzle brake), -3 (USA magazine) = 10 Right?

Any input would be appreciated. Especially from the experts of the forum as I am most certainly not one...

Thanks

I've used the 10 or less spreadsheet (very helpful) and it came out to 10. I would post the worksheet but can't figure how...  :?:

You can't count a US magazine as removing 3 parts, because the standard magazine only has 2 parts.

Despite this, I think you're OK.  The big mistake people make is counting the number of US made parts.  It doesn't matter how many US made parts you add, what matters is how many foreign parts you have left.

In your example you'd have the following foreign parts left:

Receiver
Barrel
Bolt
Bolt Carrier
Trigger housing
Trigger
Hammer
Sear
Disconnector #1
Disconnector #2

The follwing parts would not be counted because they're US made:
Stock
Pistol Grip
Handguard
Gas Piston
Operating Rod
Muzzle attachment
Mag body
Mag Follower
Mag Floorplate

The receiver cover is not one of the compliance parts either way so it doesn't matter if it's US made or not.

Sounds like you're ok.
