SKS Pistol Grip
« on: February 02, 2012, 08:22:14 PM »
So I have had a concept in my head the past week and I have done some designing for a "drop-in" pistol grip for the SKS.  I'm not having any problems with designing it, its the legal issues.  The pistol grip would just fit over the trigger guard and have a trigger extension and in no way permanently modifies the rifle, but would having the grip violate 922(r) or any other laws?  It will fit on the factory stock and does not replace any part.

Well I still have friends who would buy the grip for their M1 garands.  Might as well get something for a week of designing.

It wouldn't be non-compliant if sufficient other parts were changed.

You do realize that this has been done before, this is not an original idea.  Tapco had a "drop on" pistol grip for the SKS but stopped making it.  With the aftermarket stocks now available, there is not a real big market for a drop on pistol grip IMO.  Also, once you add the pistol grip you are forced into the 922r game so there is no benfit for someone to buy just a pistol grip unless they wanted to keep the wood stock and replace some more expensive parts.  By far, if someone wanted a pistol grip the cheapest option is to buy an aftermarket stock.
