I could drill two holes in the plate and the receiver and then use the pins to secure it, but my goal is not to damage the rifle receiver in any way.

The side plate has been installed, but the Chinese fixed scope mount sits too low. Therefore, I ordered another one with the Picatinny rail.

I would love to purchase the Midwest Industries AK scope mount, but it is quite expensive compared to the Chinese reproduction available on Amazon.

The clamping surfaces are somewhat different between the two mounts.  When I was trying to come up with a mount for the Yugo OPAP, I took some photos.  See post #8:  https://www.akfiles.com/forums/threads/yugo-m77-npap-opap-optics-consolidated-thread.186767/ (note that the link takes you off SKSBoards,com).

When modifying the mount for use on the OPAP, the MI mount would not clamp as well as the Chinese one.

I have a Midwest scope mount for a Yugo AK installed on my ZPAPM70. It fits perfectly. I will be connecting the Chinese scope mount to the AK Master mount. I will keep you updated on how it goes. If something goes wrong, I will try to fix the problem.

That thread is also out of date.  The MI mount for the PAP series is the way to go.

The Amazon package has arrived, and the scope mount seems to be high quality. I attached it to the side plate without any issues. I believe the Norinco Hunter project is now completed.

In the lower position, the scope reticle intersects the front sight. In my current position, everything is fine. The final scope adjustment will be made at the shooting range.

I have a converted 20" Saiga that I wanted to keep the scope really low on and I got it about as close as I could (the front bell of the scope was rather large so I could only go so far).  I noticed that it did intercept the front sight a bit but it only really manifested as a slight shadow toward the bottom of the view so I just left it like that.  If you don't mind ignoring it, it really isn't that big a deal.

The current scope setup is fixed. I don't have the power to adjust the heights. The only way to lower the scope is to buy low-profile scope rings or a cantilever.
I now feel comfortable aiming through the scope.
When I mounted the "Ohhunt" scope mount the front sight obstructed half of the scope view.

The FCG retainer plate will replace the ugly spring. I tested the plate and it fits perfectly.

I cam over here for this thread alone as before, I was researching endlessly to find those that had done these mods or even if they were doable.

As far as the quote above, can I just drop in a "regular" AK trigger only or is there another mod that has to be done to the Trigger group?  Outside of the trigger guard flip, which I will do as well.
