I'm finished. I purchased these T-nuts from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CT2BKXTS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

1. The base diameter of the T-nut has been reduced to 11.8 mm.
2. I re-threaded the round base of the T-nut to an M5x0.5 pitch (there's no need to re-thread for Yugo crossbolts).
3. I cut a small piece from the T-nut.

The thickness of the T-nut will be slightly reduced later.

More pictures of my project. I only completed two T-nuts for the Russian laminated stock, but not for the Yugo crossbolt.

I received a Russian SKS laminated stock that was missing the rear crossbolt and nuts. I have installed a replacement, which includes an M5 threaded rod and two modified T-nuts from Amazon for the missing rear crossbolt.

The new dark brown SKS laminated stock perfectly matches the handguard, so I have replaced the stock.

I purchased a nice Chinese stock for my SKS build, but it was designed for a pinned barrel. Therefore, I reduced the thickness of the crossbolt by 1/8" to fit my threaded barrel setup.

Here are my latest builds of mixed parts SKS rifles. If I find the 2 front sight assemblies, the modified sights will be replaced, and the rifles will return to their factory configuration.

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt . . .

I had a couple of C&R Chinese SKSs, with super great metal and super crap wood.  I ordered up two stocks from Numrich.  Unfortunately they were for pined units and mine were threaded.  I was able to modify them similar to yours using my mill.  Had one heck of a time holding the crossbolt while slimming it.  I would be interested in hearing what you did . . .

To secure the crossbolt in the machinist's vise, you need to replace the crossbolt nut with the flat side facing outward. Under the crossbolt, I placed two aluminum blocks to adjust the height. Then 1/8" of the crossbolt has been milled.

An alternative method is to use a Dremel tool with a cut-off wheel or a metal file to reduce the size of the crossbolt.

I am continuing to restore my SKS builds to their original factory condition. I have removed the modified front and rear sights. I also ordered two Chinese SKS spike bayonets. Both rifles will be equipped with muzzle brakes, but they can still accommodate the bayonet when the brakes are not in use. In such cases, the thread protector will be attached.
Currently, I'm searching for a good deal on the front sight or the barrel assembly. The front sight will be removed from the barrel.

Temporarily, I installed the AK-47 rear sight leaf. It fits perfectly.

A new concept for adapting the AK-47 front sight to fit the SKS barrel has emerged. Instead of being secured with two set screws and two pins, it will be clamped in place after one small cut.

The AK-47 front sight modification is complete. This sight can be used on a 16 1/4 inch SKS rifle barrel.

I upgraded the front sight by replacing two M3 screws with one M4 screw and a nut for improved performance.

The first front sight assembly has been found. The upper part of the sight is open, resembling other military rifles. I am not happy with that, but it's better than nothing. After selling the barrel and the gas tube, the front sight assembly will cost nothing.
