Let's revive an thread from a couple of months ago.

I like the AK Operators Union. If only for their 1k,2k, 3k & 5k round tests. I laughed myself silly when they got a radical arms budget $500.00 AR15 to go 4,300 rounds before a cam pin broke. At the price point I would have though the gas block set screws would have come loose or the bolt would have lost a lug or two. That was a big nice turd in the punch bowl for the 2k AR guys.

Yes, most people will never put 2k in rounds down the pipe of their AR15, but it's nice someone is answering the questions you have never had the time or money to test. Even if you were to use steel cases ammo, 5k in rounds in 1k in dollars.

Same for the guys at Lucky gunner that put 10k plus in steel case ammo through an AR15 a couple of years back. Their AR15 kept firing and firing. A lot of AK47 guys were really quiet about that video. That video put a lot of AR myths to bed and also raised some other questions about bimetallic bullets.

I agree Rob is great and he doesn't take himself to seriously like some other channels do. I think he does a service to the community by doing these tests while they are not considered "real world" for the average shooter they show what a properly built commerical AK can and should do which hopefully will force some companies like Century and IO to having to improve their quality if they want to remain in the market.

As far as the Radical AR goes it did great and only failed due to a $4.00 part that can be easily swapped out pretty impressive if you ask me. He's now starting the 5K round test on the PSA G2 AK along with a PSA Freedom AR which is going to be very interesting to watch the outcome of. We have heard how good their Premium uppers with FN CHF barrels are but not a whole lot from the Freedom line which is their mid grade line that they seem to push and stock the most.

A video like this is more informative to me than the AKOU videos.  The AKOU is OK but not as professional nor from an armorers point of view.

The post on the AK files from the same outfit (I believe) about a year ago was better. The video you posted was good (I posted it in the pistol thread to give the M&P and Kimber guys the vapors), but low on specifics. From what I have read:

AK-47 WASR and Chicom Aks are beasts in the dependability department. And most of the big name AKs survived a ton of abuse. The Yugos were on the bottom of the list, but their barrels still survived 40K of full auto abuse.

The AKOU is limited in how many rounds he can shoot through a rifle. The battlefield has the benefit of the customers paying for the ammo and all of the maintenance costs. I like the fact they'll try to put a rifle through it's paces.

Rob puts the rifles through virtually what the Polish Militia(they don't have a standing army) put their rifles through.  My oldest was in Poland last month for the NATO drills, and saw the Polskis abusing the snot out of their gear.   He thought they were nuts when the DI would walk up, and put rounds in the dirt inches from their heads during live fire, or stabbing the dirt with a bayo mere millimeters from their heads.  The Poles remember WW2 very well, remember the Iron Curtain, and swear, "Never again."

Rob wants you to have a rifle you can stake your life on.  He is no fool when it comes to the current political climate, and knows we may have to go "Pole" on them.

The reference to the durability at the Las Vegas range was specifically the N-PAP receiver and the USAadded non milspec buttstock.  Not to be confused with other Zastava AK's etc.

Not sure where the non standing army in Poland is coming from? Though reduced in size they hgave an military land force army.

Rob is an entertainer and also knowledgeable., but not sure his methods have anything to do with Poland.  He is in the US Army Reserve and indicated he is a sniper team leader I believe.

The testing methods are interesting but I filter the results with the use that a normal person would experience and also the ability to correct a stoppage by part replacement.  AFAIK Rob Ski is not an AK builder or smith.  While I'm sure he knows the rifle well., dunno if he has the tools or shop skills to repair one.

I was referencing another full auto gun range report thread on AK files. I should have posted the link to the thread, but couldn't find it. In that report, the Yugo barrels (their general description for a variety of AK variants) were reported to wear out at 40K. Abuse that no real rifle is going to ever experience. Plus, the definition of shot out is very vague. However, the point is most well known a respected AK names are good to go.

Same for AR-15s. It was nice that battlefield gave a nod to the durability of PSA uppers.
