Just heard this on the way to work. Other networks only reporting they were found dead.

Lumped in with the Brown University & Bondi Beach Massacre this makes for some strange days.

Thanks for the approval. Not new to the SKS rifle but kind of new to different boards on the internet. The amount of info out there is fantastic. Started getting SKS rifles during the pre $200.00 price point and surplus ammo at sub dime a round, added to what I have over the years with careful purchases in getting unique ones. Sold a couple I should not have by todays standards also. Have done gunsmithing ( hot salt blueing, etc. ) will help with any info I have that may not be out there yet.

The Workbench / Re: Replacement Barrel Compatability?

Thanks for the input. I have no issues replacing the barrel, just need confirmation that any pinned 16? barrel would work in my M receiver.

Does anybody have a definitive answer?

I think any pinned barrel will do, since the receiver inevitably started life as a normal Chinese fixed magazine SKS receiver.

I resulted to boiling the bolt for a few minutes.  Then light oil to prevent rudt.

Disassemble the bolt, as just boiling often isn't good enough.

As always XT, that's fantastic work. Love seeing your projects.
And it's great to see an old gun restored and able to live on.
Good luck with the deer hunting!
