CRKT Customer service and warrenty review.
« on: March 13, 2015, 07:32:42 PM »
Anytime I have to send a item back for any type of service or warranty issues that is related to firearms or the outdoor sporting lifestyle I like to post up a log of that experience from start to finish. It helps others to know who they maybe dealing with if are looking into buying one of their products or are having issues with an already purchased item.

I have had a CRKT M16-13LE SRT folder that I used for 7 years as my EDC knife. This knife has that been there done that look after all this time and held up great. About a year and a half ago the autoLAWKS system (patented locking system) crapped out. The knife still functioned fine I just no longer had to use the system to unlock and fold it back up. I ended up misplacing the knife in the mess and chaos of moving into a new home so ended purchasing a new CRKT Carson designed M-21 which I really like.

About 4 months back I found the M16 and started using it again a few weeks ago I noticed the male end of the pivot screw was missing which is the one side of the big screw that holds the blade to the frame.  I came across it while hanging out with my BIL and he said I should give CRKT a call or at the very least drop an e-mail and see what they say. I ended up contacting them via e-mail and had a response back in less then an hour from one of their reps.

Hello

I have an older M16-13LE that recently ran into a few issues. 1st the internals on the AutoLAWKS broke disabling the lock and over this past weekend the the male end of the pivot screw must have backed out and fell somewhere in my travels. Unknowing of this I went to use the knife and pulled the blade out. I am not sure if any of this is covered under the warranty. I have had the knife for at least 7 years maybe longer I am the 1st owner and purchased it along with 2 others from Lanigan police supply in Red Bank NJ.

Thank You
Hodgie

Hello Hodgie,

Thank you for your email and I am sorry to hear that your knife is falling apart.  Unfortunately the LE models were discontinued a couple years back but we would be happy to take a look at your knife and see if we can find the parts to repair it.  If not, we would be happy to exchange it for another model of equal value.  I have included the warranty instructions below for your reference.  If you have any additional questions please let me know.

Thank you!

I sent it the knife in and the tracking shows it was delivered on 2/23 and as of today 3/13 I have it in my hands so that's a turn around of 14 days from receipt for repair and return delivery. I am pretty impressed with the customer service as a whole. Excellent communication, took ownership of the issue right away, was apologetic and I have my knife back in 2 weeks.

The knife is excellent it's smoother then it was when I purchased it years back. Opened with such little effort and I can disable the lock easily with one hand on this one. Glad they had the parts to repair this discontinued model I really like it. From the start I was expecting to hear sorry that's discontinued 7 years old and beat up.

They have earned a life long customer out of me.

Very cool! I had almost the same experience with SOG knives and my SOG Flas II.
