GOT THIS ONE IN THE PIPLINE
« on: June 20, 2017, 07:17:48 PM »
The seller and I agreed to a price on this '70 Alby. All that's lacking is the hands on inspection. He done a good job of disclosing what he knows about it. We're several hundred miles apart, but we'll be doing a FTF, so it'll take some doing to coordinate, end of July. Until then here's his pictures. It's matching numbers, but has been refinished in some manner. PAX

Nice looking gun!  I need an Alby at some point... regretting not being in the mood to put up with that FFL at that auction last year in Maryland, haven't seen one locally since.

I had never seen an Alby in person at all. When my local FFL had one, it was a done deal once I handled it. It wasn't a "deal", but decent by Kali standards. Then , surprisingly, the same LGS had another on consignment a few months later about $50 bucks cheaper. I felt obliged to snap it up. This third one is coming from a private party. PAX

I picked up some SKS and AK parts from a guy today including a complete black Albanian spike bayonet and a few spare SKS pistons. One piston is brand new Tapco and the other two are used but over 1" shorter.I knew Albanian bayonets were shorter but are the gas pistons shorter too?
He also has a pretty darn nice #'s matching 1972 Albanian SKS with the correct sling, cleaning kit and oiler bottle he wants to sell also and it's really tempting me.
AHA,I just learned the shorter gas pistons are for the shortened gas cylinder paratroopers and SKS M's,Sporter's,SKSS's and 84's.
Now,what's a fair price to buyer and seller for a pretty nice 85-90% totally numbers matching Albanian SKS?

Albys can/are fetching the same ducats as various Russian SKSs in similar condition. Around $500ish these days, or much more. According to Yooper, there are no '72 Albys, and there's less than 6K estimated to be in the states, so there's that to chew on. I'd pay 5 bills for the right one. BTW, I'll have this one in my hot little hands Monday Wednesday 7/26 after 1:52 PM. Kali so sucks. PAX

I think you're right about it not being a 72,not certain of the year right now as he was also showing me a very nice 54 Tula at the same time.
He's dead set on $700 for the Albanain which is pricey and a bit beyond my current means, too many deals going on at the moment.I'm gonna have to hold off a while and if I lose it I lose it but I won't die if I don't get it.

Well I picked it up today, and it's nicer than the first inspection, regardless of the re-do  :?. One down, 2 Paras in the waiting. PAX

Glad you got yours.
Today I talked to the local guy with the Albanian and it turns out I have a rifle he's like for a partial trade. Now we have to work out the details. He'd rather see me as a serious collector get it rather than selling it to someone who'd just flip it for a profit.
