On the first day of rifle season at Stockton Lake Missouri.
Shot at about 70 yards with a Savage Axis rifle shooting 6.5 Creedmoor Federal Non-Typical 140 grain soft points. He came up behind me too, didn't hear him I just kept looking over my shoulder every few minutes.
He actually jumped a fence after and made it another 30 yards through brush before dropping. No blood trail. Only reason we found him was because the landowner brought his dog out! You can see the damage made to the chest/shoulder in the skinning photo, and I don't believe the projectile left the body.
First time cleaning one myself as well. I estimate I came away with about 50 lbs. of meat and have already made 2 batches of jerky!
