Finished my work on the muzzle attachments:
1) I removed some material off the tip of the plunger, such that it's no longer "proud" when fully depressed.
2) I timed the thread adapter by taking a few thousandths off the back side using my lathe. It had detents every 90 degrees, so I didn't take very much material. I used a locking pliers to tighten it into place.
3) I timed the brake using my lathe. It tightened up about 1/4 turn past the detent, so it required more than a few thousandths of material removed. The last few passes were only about 0.002" per pass. Now the detent locks into the plunger when hand tightened into place -- hand tightened, not finger tightened. If my math is correct, I assume I took about 0.030" of the rear of the brake.
4) The brake's bore was about 0.330". That only gives it about twenty thousandths clearance for the bullet. I opened it up to about 0.0340" to provide a little more clearance.
By the time I got done, It was too late to head to the range. Planning on next weekend. Since the rifle was sighted in and getting good groups without the brake and I didn't remove the red dot for cleaning, I expect no adjustments to be required. If there are, I will consider this project to be a fail and go back to my slant brake.
