I read the list of "differences" and laughed at the absurdity of the claims.
Longer? Seems the SKS design dictates length from front mag attachment point to mag release.
Flare? A file and a few minutes will do the same to the REAL deal.
Larger button? Larger Aftermarket AR mag release buttons can be purchased.
Lower button and different geometry? Lower the button, one has to change the geometry.
S-shaped recessed bottom? Again, a file and time yields the same on the Texas original.
Lastly, the use of ASC mags exclusively? The Texas original can use unmodified AR mags if the rifle is machined.
Marcus chose to mod the cheapest part; the easiest less expensive option.
The Canadian is simply lying. Even the way the two major pieces are joined (plate to machined body) is exactly like the original.
The Canadian uses cosmetic changes to prove his point? Helen Keller could see the deception.
It actually has to be shortened to run correctly. We made it a few thousandths long so it would accommodate ALL manufactuers. I guess they forgot to watch our install videos.
Yup, the flare, which ours has, the bigger button is aftermarket, but more costly. CAN'T lower the button. It would put excessive bind of the catch bar that latches the mag. If anything, we wanted it higher to relieve that possibility. And yes, we choose path of least resistance for our design.
Thanks for the comments.
Go to the HiCal "post your SKS rifle" thread and make some comments. I posted up 3 of mine with dates from 2014 on them. Let's see how Dave defends that.
