Sounds to me like it might be cheaper and much more readily acceptable to design and market an SKS-specific range bag for those duckbills. Might have to put that in the mix in the workshop.

my problem isn't the range bag's but the fact that there is no real good way to carry a SKS duckbill mag on a tatical vest.

I would buy one for around $40. BUT, it would have to work with all SKS detachable magazines. So I could use the metal mags and the tapco mags.

If there is any discussion about something like this, it should be:

Couldn't you make an adapter that is not-permanent and allowed the SKS to use AK magazines? It would of course require you to use an aftermarket stock, the regular stock is to thick and wouldn't seat an AK magazine properly.

The AK receiver is wider than the SKS receiver and so are the magazines.  AK magazines will not work without modifications to the SKS receiver.  Probably NOT a good idea.

I just read that in your post on page two. Wish I had bothered to read more than page one!

The only problem I can see with this is that it requires $40+ to make it work with $15 magazines that you will have to cut-up to make them work. Since the $15 magazine can be used all on it's own, why modify it?

What about an SKS magazine that, while designed for the SKS, works on an adapter that works just like the AR-15? Push-button magazine release.

Brainstorm: real quick, are the AR-15 7.62x39 magazines wider than the SKS body as well? I think I just had a heck of an idea but I need to know that first.

Can is it the 60 dollar ones that don't allow use of armor?

If it allows you to use a front plate, please link me

Given the pocket sizes are the same cant see a reason why a vest with a plate carrier wouldnt work.  give me a sec and Ill snap a picture with how I keep the mags in it to work.

Wasn't there a company in the past that already did this, and didn't the product disappear when it came to buying "their" mags because everyone bitched that they cost too much.

This is a one shot purchase for the adapter...then you just buy regular Tapco mags and mod them yourself.

for every SKS that you have that uses tapco mags, for me = 3, for others probably more

Well one already comes with the pouchers (and they never looked large enough to hold a duckpbill) and another is just a plain molle type vest.

The 60 dollar one with the pouches doesn't allow use with any plates unless they just forgot to leave that out of the description?

here is mine

best picture i could take, lost power about 5 seconds after this..storm moving in

i went ahead and loaded it full out, pistol, pistol mags, flashlight  it looks as if they would stick out on you, but they lay pretty flat (the duck bill is above the follower of the other mag)
