My mods on SKS rifles.

This is my first modification to a Chinese SKS rifle. Although this modification has been done before, I am happy to share my experience.
I replaced the existing bolt carrier and bolt with a matched pair from the SKS-M rifle, allowing me to use detachable magazines with the bolt in a closed position.

With that you can't use strippers anymore.  Pretty neat idea, does the bolt hold open stuff have to go too for this mod?

I have a bolt carrier and bolt with the rifle matching serial numbers. I can use a stripper to replace those parts in just a few minutes.
"Bolt hold-open" functions correctly with the new modification because I am using attachable SKS magazines. I am now able to use attachable SKS magazines with bolts that can be positioned in any way.

Head space with the replacement bolt came out OK?

The modified (from SKS-M) bolt has been tested at the shooting range and there were no issues found. Everything is perfectly fine.

I use a "go-no-go" gage on all my mix-master Bubba jobs. I was able to build 8 rifles with the stash I got from Lkermit (RIP), my heap and SARCO. I only have 2 of those rifles left, the rest jumped out of the rack or were traded for other iron. PAX

Drop free mods have been done right here on this forum since about 2007.
The bolt in the video has SHARP edges and will EAT plastic mag lips. 
I like mine better (picture is from 2013)
Besides, the supply of M /D bolts is likely pretty limited.

I have a blank (no #) bolt carrier with no guide lips. I always wondered what it went on. PAX
