The Bear ammo???
« on: May 10, 2025, 07:13:11 PM »
I have not shopped for ammo in years but because I'm going to give some 7.62x39 to a family member it got me curious for what Silver, Brown and Golden Bear cost now.
Searching the web and it's listed as 'out of stock' everywhere so at the risk of showing that I've been in a time capsule for some time, tell me when it disappeared.
My suspect is that the bans of Russian imports that Biden put in place a few years ago???
Even with that I figured other communist bloc countries had tons of it importers would still be getting it in.
Now I'm hesitant to give any of the Bear ammo and maybe give some older corrosive ammo along with instructions on neutralizing after use.

A search of older posts will show that Brown Bear in not particularly reliable.  While I've never had a problem with Silver Bear, Wolf, and many others, I have personally experienced issues with Brown Bear.  My suggestion would be to ditch any Brown Bear first, and the corrosive second.

Note that some of the old corrosive ammo is beginning to experience high prices on the collectors market.  Thus it's not the low end stuff we all remember it as . . .
