.410 coach gun.
« on: April 14, 2012, 03:54:40 PM »
  Do anybody make one in .410 that ejects the shells when you open it?  18 inch barrel would be nice.  Or a factory one that could be bobbed off?  MY Mom needs a house shotty.  I figure some OOO buck would be a nice load.
   A 20 would be cool too.

A "coach gun" is generally SXS double. You want just a break-action-single?

  No a SXS.  I was looking at some that are made by Cobray.  12 inch barrels or so.   From what I remember of my .410 pistol you had to manually select the barrel,  and use a fingernainail to extract the shell.
   Not really what I want my Mother to have to screw with.

As much as it breaks my heart to think of someone going after an old US SXS with a hack saw, I agree that the Stevens 311 ir a Savage is your best bet. You may also find a Winchester 24 in 20 guage.

Might I recommend a pump action? Mossberg makes a nice 410 that is designed fore HD. Tactically superior and you won't go after a classic.

IIRK, Stoeger made their coach gun in a 20 gauge. Might be hard looking but it would be exactly what you want.

Look at the Baikal MP220. I have one of the earlier models. Works great.

1. Barrel selector
2. Ejectors
3. Chrome lined bores
4. Made in 12ga, 16ga, 20ga, 28ga, and .410
5. Manufactured in Russia

Baikal is making Coach Guns in 410, 20ga, and 12 ga. Centerfire, J&G or somebody like that was selling them.

If you mom is small in stature you might also try a Mossberg 500E youth, Using 2 1/2" shells you can get 6-7 rounds in with easy pump action and light. They also make one with a pistol grip too.

Yup. Or can run the reduced recoil shells (we call 'em "womens and kids load").

SxS dont typically auto eject due tot he fact you may not shoot both barrels. Stoger makes some decent SxS fyi.

Just a thought, how about one in 12ga but with 1.5" shells.
-Better payload
-Same/less recoil
-Generally cheaper (0.40-0.70 vs 0.70-1.50)
-Always have the option of large shells

Stogers have extractors, but no ejectors....they weight a ton!

Ejectors are generally only on O/U not the sxs.

Aguila makes 'mini shells'
Buckshot = 1.375"
Slug = 1.5"
