'51 SKS

Vlado:
Hi guys,

First post. Thought I'd join this great site since I'm the VERY proud new owner of a Soviet SKS. I have always wanted an SKS but the only ones at most gun shows are the Yugo and chicom stuff. Finally found a beautiful '51 Tula today and could not let it pass. The guy said it was unissued and it sure looks that way; damn clean.
Here are pics:

So I was trying to educate myself on this rifle and it appears to be a "refurb" one hence the unfinished sight leaflet and the square box beneath the Tula logo. What exactly does "refurb" mean? The Soviets rebuilt it at some point?

sksrosie:
Excellent Russian. It appears to have a refurb mark on the receiver cover. For the pro's opinions you will need more pics. Left and right side of the Stock crossbolt, bayonet lug, Left side of buttstock,Right side of buttstock ect.  Welcome 8)

Thanks!
I checked over it before I purchased it and all parts have matching numbers, including the stock.

Ok after reading up on the material this is definitely a refurb. A question: When exactly were these rifles refurbished? Right before import to USA or at some other point in their life?
