Thank you VZ

A stiff stock is always better then a limp one.

Heck ask any range chick, she will set you straight..Krinkov

Anyone have a pic of a AMD-65 with one of the after-market cheek pieces installed that fit on the wire stock?

I built one years ago and hardly shoot it due to the crappy cheek weld.

If I had a do-over I would have used a regular receiver/rear trunnion and used a East German side folder on it.

Krinkov:
A east German sidefolder that would have been smart.however being a purist on most all of this stuff. i like them the way they are.

remember AK made for war not 500 yard target shooting,or busting balloons at 10 feet with blood pac's..

However we all want what sometimes can't be.better cheek weld a better mattress, a more comfortable leather chair.

Krink's advice buy what works for you originally.

if you like the standard ak stock buy a standard. I have had more guys tell me they hate the AMD-65  well then don't buy the freaking thing.and get what you think you want.

After i have shown the one i have to a few they say I WANT THAT! and i say no you don't. you just like the looks of it.for what it is and how its built.

I have had my run though with all AK'S for the past forty years.and they still always bring me back.

"They Work"
to those that have amds enjoy them.or look to a Maadi> in fact change that since I'm now looking for one.you can get one after i get mine first. Krinkster.

Meh.....I built a AMD-63 first and it was a joy to shoot, the 65....Not so much. That said I still have the 65 and sold the 63 during the "panic". They are quite the looker.

I can certainly agree that AKs always bring you back.

I had not bought a AK for a few years (other than a 10/63 UF that a guy had painted that I got for cheap just to rescue) but when I saw a Bulgarian triangle side folder the other week at my LGS I just had to have it.

I had a Bulgarian '74 painted wood stock kit I never got around to building (lost intrest and sold it) and always regreted it. I'm glad I bought this one as it's a great shooter.

Of course I just had to get me some plumb furniture for it and it's due in this week.  :banghead:

BTW.....I had a pre-ban MAADI and to be honest I prefered the chi-coms of the time. Damn it was ugly and had a lot of sharp edges hidden by thick black paint but maybe that was the appeal.
