AMD-65 Pros and cons

<< < (2/11) > >>

Duke_O_NY808:
Any function problems with the mag wobble?Fall out? Mags might be a better choice due to costs and the fact I can get more for the money. Any thoughts on the receiver scope mount rails?

doc540:
Nothing but good things to say about mine.

Metal mags rattle and still shoot great.

Poly mags don't rattle and still shoot great.

Bud's has them for $439 shipped.

Mancat:
If you don't like the way the AMD-65 feels out of box, don't worry. There are cheek risers available for the wire stock, and the front end can take standard AK furniture, though the gas tube neck is shorter than standard.

The biggest cons IMO are the short sight radius, short barrel, and (semi) permanent muzzle device. These things all add up to a less than stellar reputation for accuracy, though this is mostly on the shooter and not the rifle itself.

An AMD-65 doesn't have to stay an AMD-65.

Aye Kay:
Pure gun porn Mancat.  Thank you,  I think I need an AMD.

AKBLUE:
I would forget the drum.  Pretty much a photo op item and heavy and clunky.
the 20 round Hungarian mags for the AMD are great.  They are as accurate as any AKM and more than some.  Brand new parts & barrel help that as well.
