I have 2 55 gal blue plastic drums that had new hydraulic oil in them and are at my disposal for free if I want them.
Can anyone think of a use for them?
I am thinking maybe diesel fuel storage since they had oil in them.
would that work?
how does diesel do in plastic?

I have heard it said that gas doesnt store as well in plastic but thought diesel might since it is a little more stable.

I've stored diesel in plastic drums just like those before and it was OK; you want to use an additive, and fill the drum completely.

Yep - oil storage.

In SHTF cases :kerosene for heater or lamps, rain water (flush toilet only) if on city water.  cut in half vertical, makes shop/parts sink.

I'd only hesitate on the diesel because this low-sulfur stuff that smells like turpentine on acid and steroids strikes me as really iffy in plastic drums.  I had to buy special o-rings when I replaced my injector return lines, because the LS Diesel eats through the rubber/plastic of the regular ones.

Diesel will be fine (#1, or #2)

You gotta think, most diesel pickups have plastic tanks now-a-days ... Diesel is also not a solvent like gasoline.
