Went to the gunshow in lewisville on saturday and picked up my very first sks. out of the 3 in the show this one was the only worth buying, other 2 were way overpriced chinese norincos, neither of which accepted ak mags or had any other features that would improve the price to 450 and 500$ on the tags that accompanied them. the last was a 1950 russian tula armory sks. the price tag was 400$ so i said what the hell and picked this beauty up. has old SN notched away so i know it was referbed. the stock does NOT bare a star emblem on it like some 1950's referbs i have seen. all matching SN's. I was very pleased to find when i cracked it open that not only had the previous owner kept this gun in immaculate condition, but he had already done me the honor of replacing the firing pin to one with a spring to prevent slam fires. i cant tell you how pleased i am with this rifle so far. tomorrow i should be going to the range to finally test its shooting should all my plans work out nicely. ill be sure to update with some more pics from the range tomorrow and let you know just how it shoots, but for now here are the pics.
PS - i was wondering if someone could help me identify whether it is an early 1950 or a later 1950. let me know if you need more pics or info to tell. thanks all - 7.62
