I've had my WASR for 6 years or so. I like it and shoot it a fair amount. Its recently had a make-over consisting of new Bulgarian AK-74 wood that I refinished with some red food coloring, linseed oil, and polyurethane, a US Palm Battle Grip, Manticore Night Brake, Echo 93 Quick release sling mount, Magpul MS3 sling, modified rear sight (similar to what Rifle Dynamics offers), polished internals, bolt, bolt carrier, rails, etc...
I thought I was done with it when I put the fresh wood on Thanksgiving Day, but I've since decided to add a MI side rail mount and Hi-Lux CMR to the gun. It never ends I guess...

Sight picture with modified rear sight:

E93 sling mount. I originally had it on the right side but moved it to the left sidde and will be putting it back on the right side tonight. lol

I wanted a side folder AK for awhile now and was gonna build a '74 (went so far as to buy a Nodak Spud receiver for the project). I decided for the cost of a parts kit I could buy an AMD-65 from Centerfire and, obviously, use my stockpile of AK mags/drums/ammo.
Its had the same polishing treatment as the WASR and I modifies the rear sight on this as well. When I got the gun I pulled the front grip off and put my original WASR grip on then proceeded to file it and change the grip angle slightly for more comfort. I then filed/sanded the original rear grip for more comfort (I personally HATE the factory AMD plastic grips!) until the Houge pistol grip arrived. I trimmed it slightly to fit around the stock release button and love it.
I added the obligatory AMD-65 Tech cheek riser and will likely weld it/paint it soon. I plan on getting the same sling arrnagement that's on the WASR for this gun as well. A Burris Fastfire ll will be ordered and perched on top of a MI forward handguard which will replace the "iron skillet." The Magpul AFG that's currently outfitted to a standard 5" Magpul rail will remain with the gun.
