That atomic artillery piece would be the most powerful.  The Germans built a couple of 800mm conventional artillery pieces use in WWIII.

What kind of a powder charge would that have? Is the powder measured in pounds?

When I see big stuff like that, I just have to climb it. The 7 year old inside of me comes alive when there's stuff like tanks or railroad cars that I might be able to climb.

The only thing you could climb was an odd Sherman from the 4th Div that had the heck shot out of it by German Armor piercing shells. Even the barrel took a ricochet off the hull and nearly cut the barrel in half. Poor barrel was bending down sadly. Shot up during the Battle of the Bulge.

Yep. By then they had learned to compress the size of a nuclear warhead. That shell was almost the equivalent power to the ones dropped on Japan.

I always wondered what those vertical streaks are in the surrounding area of the blast.     :?

Well, that sure is big, but the 16-inch guns of the Iowa-Class battleships (the Iowa, the Wisconsin, the Missouri, and the New Jersey) were quite a bit bigger (16 inches is 406 mm)  and they could project all sorts of ordnance, to include a nuclear projectile, to targets well in excess of 20 + miles....and each ship has 9 of them.

  Now THOSE are some guns.

Don't need as bigga guns when it's the USS Alabama!

Damned banjo playing, enemies were jumping off-ship to drown out the sound of a movie that had not yet come out!

I wonder if Burton Cummings wants to "Share the Land" now that he actually owns land?

But the Navy only manufactured 50 nuclear rounds. They had approximately the same yield
or 5 kilotons more than the Army. They were not so sure they would work at the velocity of a 16".
So those 50 rounds sat on shore and were never loaded onto an Iowa Class ship nor ever test fired.
Only the Army actually fired a test round.

I think the "snakes" are flares that where shot off so they could track the blast wave, this was a test after all, but I could be wrong, I'm sure someone will let us know

I see your 280 mm and raise to 800mm - The Dora Gun

Yes the Atomic Cannon's ammunition may have been more powerful - but are we talking most powerful ammo or gun?
