"DP" marked SKS?
« on: May 24, 2006, 02:12:45 PM »
I found two interesting Chinese SKS rifles.

One has "DP" stamped in front of the serial number on the left side of the receiver.  The rifle is all matching and lightly used.  It is complete except the bayonet is missing.  I can't remember the significance if any of the "DP" stamp.  I did a cursory search last night but couldn't find anything.

The other rifle has had the bayonet lug removed professionally and it has a side mount rail rivited to the side of the receiver.  It is also all matching and in good shape but is missing the bayonet (obviously) and cleaning rod.

The best part is the "DP" marked rifle is $149 and the one with the rail is $139.  I also think I may be able to get the owner to come down on the prices.  It sure is nice to find Chinese SKS that aren't priced like Russians.

nice find, and welcome back. there has been some debate about the DP markings. as far as find number 2 is the scope rail screwed or rivited? if it is rivited and the bayonet lug has been removed it may be a sharpshooter with the bipod removed.

I am pretty certain that it is the rail as shown in the third pic.  I am 100% certain that the rail is rivited on. I may have to go and take a second look to be certain if the rail had the dimples or not.  The bayonet lug was ground/milled off at a 45* angle on both sides so that it looks like the bottom half of an octagon and re-blued.  It definitely does not look like a bubba job.

I went back and looked at them again.

The DP marked rifle is marked "DP (four Chinese characters) 240xxx"  It is import stamped as "ACT III Greensboro NC"

The other rifle has the exact rail as shown in Beachbums third pic and is marked "Norinco KSI Pomona" IIRC it looks like it is /456\ as the arsenal.

Hay! Ya been playin  in my gun vault withergyld :)
I have one of each that you mentioned. I am still looking for documented info on the DP marked Guns.

Concerning the other with the rail as pictured- What I do know is that all with that type rail were imported by KSI in Pamona CA. If they were imported this way or applied later is unknown to me.

The Navy arms CC mounts will not fit that rail. In a few weeks I will have a Chinese made  "Russian style" Clamp lock type mount and will let ya know if it fits.  Same as the type fitted to their "Farmer's Friend" SKS in the green box. Navy Arms described the mount as " identical to German G-43 mount".  The curently available Romanian scope mount for the (PSL/Romak) will fit that rail with some  removal of wood from the stock and minor adjustments to the mount.  J&D has them for 79.00.
