Norinco with DP markings.
« on: September 30, 2006, 01:36:00 AM »
Just picked up a Norinco SKS with the markings
DP with 4 Chinese marks. SN# is 2100201  SKS 7.62x39 MADE IN CHINA BY NORINCO CSI ONT CA
I know the CSI ONT CA are the importer marks.  I have seen a few posts about SKSs marked with the DP and was wondering if anyone had more info about the markings?  Also I am looking for a bayonet and sling for it.  They lost the original bayonet and gave me one they had but itís a blade instead of a spike.  Thanks for any info.

Thanks beachbumwithagun. I missed that post and most of the info I wanted to know was there.  Now I just need to figure out what year it was built.

Could you post a picture of the four Chinese characters.  The first character is not always the same on the DP marked Chinese SKS rifles.

Here is a link to pictures of mine for comparison:

Got the pics taken. My camera would not focus on the SN well enough to read  but I wrote them down. Let me know.

The last three are the standard characters that translate as "5 6 Type"  The first one ???

There was another dp chinese with a ji mark on it (吉)and it was for jilin province (吉林)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jilin

If this rifle is going along the same lines, it is also from that Jilin province but from a city abbreviation:
called Yanji city (延吉) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yanji

There are a lot of weapons factories in north east china (the 3 provinces near korea are all refered to as north eastern china), so might be onto something here with marked DPs coming from this region.

I put pinyin up for you if you dont have chinese character fonts installed, but if you have it installed, the characters should show up for you. Hope it helps, i can clarify some more later if you want, but plain and simple is it's another abbreviation marking.

If you hurry, before ebay s**ts on us, you can still find Spikes and slings...cheep.
