I suppose I bubba'd this extra stock a little bit last weekend... Still need to refinish the wood and wrap the PG... You might want to look into 922r regs with your homemade pistol grip.

You might want to look into 922r regs with your homemade pistol grip. I hate these laws and admit that I honestly cannot remember the rules because they are so complex but without a removable magazine and no "evil features" seems to me that this one 'should' be ok.

its all original parts, except for my "addition", so I think it is the same as adding an American-made muzzle brake... I haven't altered the original config of imported parts, only added something else...

I believe he is right on that. No more foreign parts were added or replaced so it should be good.

Your good because the pistol grip is American made. The paratrooper stock I swapped onto mine added a foreign part because it was not made in the US.

It's a slip on Capco brake. They've been out of business for years. I bought this one from a forum member. It's held on with Permatex sleeve retainer. They say your supposed to silver solder them on but 2 years with sleeve retainer and it's still holding fine. DC Engineering bought out Capco. Last time I talked to the guy there he had 60 or so of these still in stock from years ago. Kind of pricey from him but he had them. Prices on the site are out of date. I think he said to add $10 to the listed price. The break is part number 40 on this page. http://www.rifletech.com/cgi-bin/shop.pl/page=sks4.html/SID=256521895Oh, one warning. If you call this guy he is imposable to get off the phone. He will go on and on for hours if you let him.

I tried a couple of different wraps with some camo camping cord I had... I wouldnt want to shoot it like this without gloves on, that rope is old, dry and ROUGH! This is how it sits right now... I still need to find some black or green paracord to do it for good... and I think I might trim a bit off the bottom of the PG...

As I understand 922r, every SKS violates it simply by existing. However, they are grandfathered while in their original configuration. It is not a crime to own a weapon which violates 922r in itself, so long as you can reasonably prove you purchased the weapon in that config.
However, the moment you modify a component, you create a "new" rifle, and you lose your grandfather protection. If the ATF were to prosecute you, they would not say "This is an SKS, and you slapped on a pistol grip." They would say: "This is a semi-automatic rifle, which uses 14 imported parts, and would be illegal to import in this configuration."
It's not a matter of whether the part you added is imported or not, but whether the "new" rifle, when assembled, contains more than 10 imported parts in total.
Not that anyone is likely to ever call you on it, but if you care to be legal, there it is.
