Could China Take over LA, Seattle, and San Fran?
« on: June 27, 2007, 11:55:33 AM »
We all know China doesn’t have a navy worth a toot.  But they do have whole navy worth of transport/container ships.  Do you think they could send over enough troops on 250 container ships to take over 3 or 4 large west coast ports and gain a foot hold in unarmed or under-armed California?  Especially with most of the active troops over seas? What about Australia or Canada?  Both are Large unpopulated areas rich in mineral wealth and resources ripe for a new world power wanting to flex it’s muscle.  I'll bet trying to poision us all with lead and tainted food isn't going as fast as they want.

Maybe... The problem then is that IF the surprise worked, they'd have a large ground force engaged in battle in an unwinnable fight that they could not re-supply.

Urban warfare against an armed population, without having secured the resupply lines?  Only an idiot would try that.

SF is the only city that is "underarmed" in this state.  Don't make the mistake of thinking that California, as a whole, is underarmed.  I'd bet that we have more C&R licensees and hunters than any other state except Texas.  Could China take San Francisco?  I don't know but all evidence indicates that SF would not only not resist but would welcome their bothers in philosophy.  I'm not sure how many of us outside of SF would even care.  But take one step out of the City and face blistering resistance in the form of guerrilla warfare.

Kinda like Iraq or soon Iran, huh?
A large wealthy country couldn't support those long supply lines!
So then it's settled, only nuclear attacks will work here, huh?
Do you think we could control the pacific for long if major portions of the west coast were occupied?  What does it take 3 days to get back and forth now?  I think if China really wanted to dump surplus population that is plausible.  Just think the havoc a million red commies could wreak on the west coast!  I honestly don't think we'd use nukes if they didn't and I really don't think we'd use one anywhere on the occupied west coast.  I'm just saying, and if China really wanted to expand in Australia do you think we would stop them?

If China is going to expand, it will be in their own back yard.

China invading the west coast would be like a new homeowner invading his west bedroom. At this rate China doesn't need an army, all it needs is a really big eviction notice and a clear spot to post it.

Sorry but they do not have the lift capacity to do this, and they probably couldn't lock their troops in shipping crates for the whole voyage. We own the Pacific, and from HI west everything in the water exist only because we allow it to. I used to hunt submarines when I was in the Navy, and do not for see this as a possibility because we are ,although at this time splintered, fully capable of pulling together as a nation. If we decided to defend our soil, I do not forsee anyone pulling a land invasion and being the one to write the accounts for the books.

China is developing a blue water navy.  Just go to any store to shop and you are helping the chicoms build their fleet, missile, space etc programs. Yeah capitalisim!!!!!
Be prepared!

Especially with most of the active troops over seas?

Dont be one of "those people", please...

Most of our military isnt overseas. Not even the active duty components. Actually, if my memory serves me correctly, only 75% of the US Army has even been involved in OIF and OEF. That means over the past 6 years, 25% of just the army hasnt even been involved in combat there, and that stat counts domestic moves and logistical affairs.

We have 160,000 service men and women in Iraq currently, with about another 15,000 involved elsewhere in support of OIF and OEF in Afghanistan. There are about one and a half million people serving in the armed forces. 900,000 of them are serving just in the continential US, with another 33,000 in Alaska and 17,000 in Hawaii. We also have about 110,000 floating around the US to respond in a moments notice.

hijack ended.

In my opinion, China couldnt hit us. Even if they did, we'd wipe them out. But, its still fun and *important to "think of the possibilities" and keep those SHTF weapons handy!

We are being invaded right now, as we speak.  Sadly, we have decided not to defend our soil.

If the Chinese want to invade us, we have a couple thousand miles of open border that they could waltz across.  No one would notice.

If china wants to kill us all, all they have to do is stop exporting to us.  Their lawmakers could cripple us faster than our own are crippling us now just by putting a ban on American-bound exports.
