Ram-Line Muzzle Brake on a Norinco. Legal?
« on: July 05, 2007, 03:01:56 AM »
I have a Norinco that I plan to put a T-6 stock, Tapco 20 round mag, and Piston & op rod on my gun.

I would also like to put this Ram-Line Muzzle Brake on too:

I do not want to break any laws so I need to know if it will be a problem. I appriciate any help I can get.

It looks like what you have there is a flash hider.  If so you will need to play the "ten-or-less-game" in order to make use of it.

I plan to get a T-6 stock, Gas piston, Op rod, and Tapco 20 round mag(s) at the same time. That's 7-8 compliance parts so that would put me in the green to use the Ram-line brake right? I mean that would put me at having only 6-8 foreign parts afteradding all the Tapco stuff.

There are 14 counted parts on your Norinco.  Replacing the stock, handguard, and magazine with US-made parts should be all that's needed (14 - 4 = 10).  You'll be two parts short if you want to use the OEM mag (14 - 2 = 12), even if you use the Tapco gas piston (14 - 3 = 11).  The gas piston extension (what some folks call the "op-rod") is not a part counted.

Not that I know of. I intend to make it so though. I will drill and tap the Flash hider. Then drill a very slight indention in the barrel. That should do it. I mounted a couple front sights this way on some other rifles.

The more I think about it all I really need to do is add the Tapco piston, a Tapco 20rnd mag and a hand guard. That will give me 5 compliance parts bringing me down to 9 non-com parts. Then I can add the Ram-Line brake.

Did you ever end up using this brake?  How does it perform?

Is Ram-line US made or not?  Does it matter?  It is marked USA?
