I've been in the market for a blade to hang on the web belt. Last week I hit a yard sale in my brothers neighborhood. He told me the guy was going to be getting rid of some sporting equipment.
Mostly the usual junk, but he did have a bayonet that caught my eye. At first I thought it was a WWII original but when I picked it up I could see that there was not a scuff on it, brand new. He said it was a repro. The blade had a factory edge with not the slightest ding and the scabbard also brand new.
I do not recall the markings, but I'm almost certain he said it was the M4. One thing I am certain is that it had the name "Camillus" on the handle (is it the hilt? - I'm certainly no afficionado).
Leather wrapped handle. Pretty nice
He wanted $55 for it, said his son paid more than that. I offered him $30. He said no.
Now I've seen the original (meaning beat up mil surp)version going for $15 to $40 at gun shows. I recall mention of the "Camillus" knife works in upstate N.Y.(now out of business). I've done some searches here and Google but have not been able to find info on an M4 bayonet repro made by Camillus.
Can anyone tell me if this was a quality blade and value?
Thanks in advance for any info.
