Norinco SKS Type M (Sportster)
« on: August 07, 2008, 07:34:19 PM »
I'm not sure If I'm using the right description or not.  I came across a Norinco SKS with a thumb hole stock.  According to some of the pics I have seen on the board, it's a type M or sporter.  It looks like it is in good condition.  The magazine is detachable but looks like it is a 10 or 20 round magazine and not a 30.  They are asking $369.  Is that a good price for this SKS?

The Norinco Model M was shipped with either a thumbhole stock or a Monte Carlo stock.  They came with 5 round magazines.  They will take most any AK magazine, 5, 10, 20, 30-rounder or more.  They prefer Chinese made magazines over Russian magazines.  I think $369 is near the upper price range, but prices vary throughout the country.  SKS M prices are steadily increasing.  Even if you pay $369, as long as you take good care of her, you won't lose any money if and when you decide to sell.

Yeah, seems to be a "M".

The price is good by today's standards.

I wish I could have bought mine that cheap. But yeah. Like others have said, you will get your moneys worth out of it no matter how much you spend on it.

I paid $490 for mine. I never regret it.

Krazy_Kracker...

That's not a SKS "M", is it...a AK mag accepting SKS ?

It is long barreled, with a bayo, and, appears to have a standard SKS floor plate release (& with the bolt held back, it seems).

LG

I'd be very happy to sell a regular Norinco in a Tapco stock with a duckbill for $490

I agree that's not an M, however, for the record, some M's have 20" barrels.  Here's one:

"M" do not have bayos- Only the "D" has a bayo.

Disclaimer: With the exception of some extremely rare and questionable "M" with a bayo.

I will note that at the top of this forum THERE IS A STICKEY...

"Identification of SKS-D's and SKS-M's" -that clarifies alot of this.

Nope. Mine isn't a SKS "M".

Just saying I wish I could have got mine that cheap, but he will enjoy it no matter what the cost is.  8)

So...

You are just using the pic just for a signature?

It made things confusing.

Yeah sorry about that... I didn't even think of it being confusing when I put it on.. I will make it not so confusing. If I can... haha

Sorry for the misunderstanding...
