Trigger job "fingerprint"?
« on: October 13, 2008, 12:09:14 PM »
I just recently purchased an SKS (thru GunBroker.com), that I thought was a great deal: Russian, with several "upgrades", including peep sights, recoil buffer, ATI stock, Kivaari trigger job, etc. Sounds great, eh?

But after receiving it, I find that about half the upgrades it was supposed to have, it actually doesn't have. One of these is the trigger job...I can't be absolutely sure about it, but given the praise I've seen for this work all over the various SKS boards, I can't believe that this gun has the Kivaari trigger on it.

Is there some way a "layman" like me can check to see if it actually had the Kivaari trigger work done on it, or if the guy swapped out a stock trigger? I'm thinking there might be some "fingerprint" (sort of like a silversmith's stamp), that I could look for...

Probably not, but I thought I'd ask.

REMOVE THE TRIGGER GROUP FRUM THE GUN

NEW SPRINGS HAVE A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT HUE.

WHERE THE HAMMER JOINS THE REST OF THE GROUP WILL BE HIGHLY POLISHED

Kivaari DID MINE AND IT SHOOTS LIKE MY REMINGTON 700 =D>

Hi, welcome to the boards. Sorry to hear about your troubles. You got the right forum to get the answer on the trigger. Kivaari is top notch and will probably be able to tell you whether he worked the trigger or not by you telling him how it is working. You might try emailing him direct too.

I would definitely be getting in touch with the seller on this if it isn't as advertised. Hopefully it is still worth what you paid even without all the mods.

Good Luck

How does the trigger perform? Have you checked the engagment and the pull weight? Have you fired SKS before? What are you comparing this to?

Post a picture and I can tell you. Usually I turn the trigger spring...

Now that doesn't mean somebody did not swap parts, etc., it may just need cleaning/lubricating. Maybe 20,000 rounds have been fired through it swapped between several SKS............. OR you can send it to me.

If it's clear I did the work, I'll fix it LABOR free; if it needs a part, you buy the part.
