You made me curious. I did a quick search and 7.62x54R is "sometimes referred to as" 7.63x53. I didn't research to find out why. I stopped reading. Marcus

I bought a case of Czech 7.62x54r ammo. The wooden box is marked 7.62x53, the metal cans inside were marked 7.62x53. Confusing.

Any chance it was 7.65x53
sometimes called Belgium or Argentine
was it rimmed or rimless

It is most decidedly rimmed, 7.62x54r light ball. Shoots great in my 91/30's, not so good in my M-39's.

Its finnlands way of being different from the soviet union back then, the ammo is just 7.62x54R theres no real difference, and if there is, its very  very tiny. Honestly I think ammo like this is becomign more of a collectors Item (finnish stuff and such like that, same with vintage US 7.62x54R) Might be worth saving. But if you wanna shoot it, finnland makes their ammo to very high qaulity standards so, you will be pleased if you choose to use it.

No, it's so cold up there in Finland that the cartridge shrinks 1mm.
