Is the milled reciever better? I will try to search the forum but sometimes the search function of gun forums don't work well.

More than 99% are milled receivers, and they are AOK.  Try putting your search terms inside quotations, i.e. "Factory /636\" or "Factory 636".

Hi jiv, none had a threaded barrel for a muzzle break, when they say threaded barrel they are talking about where the barrel attachés to the receiver verses pinned (your pictures don't show that area) Yours is not an early gun, hence stamped trigger guard, non milled bolt carrier, hence spike bayo. No way to date, can only date factory 26 guns.

Nice numbers matching Gun!! Welcome aboard.

edit: As far as worth I would say 250 to 300 in my area....

Under the bold icon is an "Insert Image" icon, click on it and you get these... [ img ] < link here > [ /img ] ... put link in between,

picture must be uploaded first at photo bucket or something similar.

I'm on my second sks. My 1st I never had the desire to care about its origin and only had it for about 2yrs. I still regret selling it. Any how my 2nd go round with sks's and I've managed to get a good solid norinco. I've put about 2-300rds through it with the only hiccup being when I put detachable mags on. I'm curious as to the origin of this gun. The markings match on all parts minus the sling. The stamp on the left side read as follows [0144] ***2300970A.  Sks7.62x39CHINA.   NORINCO.   R.T.K.INT'LATL.5A.   From reading this thread I'm under the impression its from factory 144 the 970th gun built in 1979. I'm most curious as to what the capital A stands for after the serial number and what the letters after Norinco mean.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all!
Hope someone with more knowledge can help me on this?

I just acquired a Norinco SKS Paratrooper. It is in a Combat Exchange folder so I
have no info on the original stock.
The frame and all associated parts (except the magwell) are all serial numbered 6260
There are NO arsenal marks of any kind and this is stamped on the left side of the receiver:

6260      Norinco SKS 7.62 x 39  China

Would anyone have any information on a 4-digit serial number Norinco?
Like where it was made and when?

HELP.........!!!!!!

There is no such thing as a Norinco made rifle. Norinco was and is a Chinese Red Army Exporter.
There never was a Chinese SKS Paratrooper! That was a phrase dreamed up by US Importers to get a value added gun. Only an Arsenal stamp will say which one made it. And other than /26\ we know virtually nothing. The Chinese will not supply info on where they were made or any production data. That is why the US banned all weapons imports from them. Para were made of cut up SKS and piece parts in some cases it appears. Importer name should be on your rifle some where. Several US companies imported them. You do not have an actual Military rifle. It is a fun gun.

Importer's marks - KSI  Pamona, CA.

By 'Fun Gun" you mean it was a built from parts gun?
If so - was it built by Norinco, or someone else?

Just a gun to have FUN with. Non-Military Rifle. Someone, some where in China did the work based on US Importers Specifications. Again, Norinco is A Chinese Exporter. They never manufactured a fart.

 He means it's a generic shooter gun, not a collector piece;

Also, "Norinco" was merely the export arm of the Chinese government; they never actually made guns.

I have to ask, are your interests here purely commercial in nature?
