How to Remove Remington 870 Fore arm without tool
« on: April 07, 2009, 10:44:44 PM »
Well i have seen people on other sites ask how to take off a Remington 870 forearm without the tool it is very simple...

After you clear the shotgun and take off the barrel , bolt and slide off the slide look at it from the front and you will see this...

Just put the tip of a flat head screw driver in the slots and work it till it unscrews...

After you screw it off the fore arm will slide right off...

Just reverse the process to put it back on...

I've used an allen wrench laid sideways in it also. Doesn't get it very tight but comes out quickly.
What ever doesn't kill me, better start running

I have always used a brass scraper or also called a puddy knife. I have one that fits perfectly in the slots. It's like using a wide screwdriver.
Better to have it and not need it,than need it and not have it.......BOOM!

The bolt carrier fits in there very nicely, but I've had limited success using it as a removal tool. Worked on mine when I was playing around with it, but it didn't work when I tried to use it to pull off a forearm on an old wingmaster. After a lot of years go by, the wood can get really stuck.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

Ive got a old snap on tool box thats thickness is the same as the slots in the nut, I just drop the nut over the top of the box and turn the forearm by hand.
