norinco type 56 SKS
« on: May 17, 2009, 09:18:48 AM »
Is anyone familiar with these rifles?  I have seen them for sale for $139.00.  I believe they are new.  Is the quality/reliability the same as with the other SKS rifles?
Thanks,
Swamp

type56 is the Chinese designation for the sks. not as good quality wise as a russian with quality varying between factories and dates of production.

I believe you are up in Canada, there are many Russian sks's upon your shores right now that can be had for $239. if you can afford it I would upgrade to a Russian for the $100 difference.

actually at those prices I would take a few of each.  8)

I have a Yugo, but at that price I would grab another one up in a minute.  Go to this site

http://yooperj.com/

Click on SKS on the left and then look at page 11.  You will find a China Type 56 that was made back in 1964.  I say go for it.

This guy has got to be Canadian they have a much better working relationship with the Chinese than we do.

cant get a norinco SKS for C$139 until marstar bring them in , they havent had any for 4 years (but still on their site) so the cheapest norinco sells for C$175.

btw , the last few shipments the quality is getting worst but what do we expect for C$139 ?

What are the quality issues?

my sino and 1965 are very well made and one made in the 90s is accepteable but the newly assembled ones are not good at all .

rifle rattled alot, very rough machining, poor fitting , not all the metal were blue some parts were park but rifle worked without a hitch .... i remember after the top cover was locked in place , it could still be move it back and forth , i realized the hole on the left side where the top cover latched appeared were not even round but kinda oblong . i sold it very quickly.
