Hi, I am new to this board. I have an interesting project that I thought up dealing with a Yugo SKS Receiver. My project is to adapt an MP44 Magazine to the SKS Receiver. Re barrel it to the caliber of 7.92 x 33mm Kurz. I also want to make it easy to change barrels out and adapt a piston type gas system similar to the SVT 40 and G43. I have just started the project and I am in the process of altering the magazine well. I am a disabled Vet and it will take a lot of time to do the project. My next step is to mill the bolt so it will work with the magazine. I can use the bolt from my Model M SKS as a sample to copy. Now my question to all that are interested in following this project is what would be the best way to open up the bolt face to accept the rim of the Kurz case? Which is the same rim diameter of the .308 Winchester case, or should I machine a new bolt? Thanks for any ideas and assistance in advance.
Peace be with you!
William
