smith&wesson M&P in 7.62x39
« on: November 13, 2009, 06:16:11 PM »
What do you all think of this gun?I am bidding on one and if I get lucky, then I will have a lot of SKS stuff and two SKS rifles for sale.I decided to go this route as I have about 3,000 rounds of sks ammo and I didn't want to mess around trying to sell it all.I believe this caliber is a little stronger than 5.56 unless I'm wrong,if I am someone please let me know.Thanks.sj

I didn't think S&W made them in 7.62, just 5.56 and 5.45, make double sure what you are buying.

Better double check that. Even if you're right, AR's and x39 don't mix. Something to do with the taper of the round and AR mags not working well together.

Here's a link with information about the rifle:

Looks like 5.45 x 39

As mentioned by the gents previously, no such beast was made by S&W (only 5.45 not 7.62), so you may be bidding on something that is homebrew. Again be sure of what you are bidding on. Many times homebrew is not properly put together.

Really? You'd better explain that to my x39 AR. C-Products makes some nice mags for this caliber.

C-products makes magazines for the AR-15 in different calibers.
So it's a home build, Smith and Wesson lower and a x39 upper made by someone else, if it's a decent quality
upper It maybe a good deal but I would find out the brand before buying.

Sorry. None of the ones I've had experience with, granted which were all WECSOG's, worked well.

I think there are several offerings by Del-Ton, DoubleStar, DPMS, Model 1 Sales, Olympic Arms and Sabre Defense make or made 7.62X39 uppers.  Colt had one years ago as werll but I think out of prodyuction.  Not aware of S&W with a 7.62 upper.  I have a 5.45 S&W upper and it is flawless with milsurp corrosive ammo.

Yeah, my 5.45 upper has yet to hiccup. and you have to love the 13 cent ammo right now.

Bushmaster has them too last time I checked.  (before the election)
