What is a good cheap holographic sight for the SKS?
« on: December 11, 2009, 02:47:54 PM »
I have been looking at these, and they go as low as $25, but looking to spend up to $50.  What is a decent quality holographic sight that I can mount on my handguard rail?  It doesn't have to be the highest quality, I don't hunt or shoot it long distances, just looking for something to plink with.  Thanks, Zak.

Do you have a local sporting goods retailer like Dunham's?  They often have a few different ones at about the same price range and you can take a look at it in person before deciding

Just because one is priced higher doesn't mean it's any better, either

Haha, my "chick" is sitting next to me right now and she is laughing at that...  Tomorrow is my birthday so I will be busy, and I'll be out of town sunday and monday...  I will let you know after that though.  What is your address?  Thanks, Zak.

You should take into consideration the MOA of the dot. That Tru-glo at Cabelas is listed as 5MOA...5" target-coverage at 100yds. as I've understood the MOA sizing interpretations. Tru-glo has been said elsewhere to be manufactured in China. Dots come in other sizes....big for 100yd. turkeys & small for longer ranges. I"ve seen that a "variable-size dot" is also manufactured for rifles giving the area of target-coverage as your choice. I'd advise some "googleing-research" on the subject before any cash outlays. 8)
