Hi folks, Fitting this project in with the rest of life is much slower than I would like but hey, a pair of teenagers will evaporate your "free" time quicker than you can spit!
Any way what you see in this shot is a lower frame centering jig mounted on a reciever. every move on the fitting of new parts has to be set up in fixtures so subseqent guns can be accurately assembled into tight and true tolerances. The VZ mags demand a new style bolt stop some what similar to the FAL. The main new feature of the new XT will be a steel mag well cover that will automaticaly un latch once the lower frame is removed, alowing the mag catch pin to be hand removable along with the bolt stop assembly. This reciever group will completely strip down & reassemble (w/no tools) so fast it will make your head spin! Any one in the need of 4140 steel should try speedymetals.com great prices n fast service.
Also, a buddy of mine just got his FFL& gunsmithing license. there may come a time this year where you could mail him your poor condition SKS and recieve a new (922r compliant) very limited production XT-M1C. And I don't mind using your surplus FAL lower parts. The pat.Pending now covers it going public.
